Context
Mina Justa is one of Peru's newest copper operations — owned by Marcobre, a joint venture between Minsur (Grupo Breca, controlled by the Brescia family — Peru's largest tin producer through the San Rafael mine) and Chinese capital partners — located in Marcona, Ica and in commercial production since 2021. The project combines open-pit and underground scope. While CUMBRA executed the Oxide Plant + VATs construction (see related case), MDH — a Peruvian specialist in diamond drilling, tunnels and geotechnics, with long trajectory serving the largest Peruvian miners — runs the underground scope. PPE here is specialized and expensive: respiratory filters, ignifuge gear, harnesses, oxygen masks for confined-space work. Losing a single item is non-trivial; non-use is a direct SSOMA risk that no Excel reconciliation could surface in time.
Challenge
Underground operation, low light, multi-crew shift rotation. Paper delivery notes and Excel reconciliation couldn't keep up. Specialized PPE had no chain of custody from warehouse to face. The risk wasn't only financial — a worker without a respirator in an ignifuge zone is an SSOMA event waiting.
Solution
We deployed the Logiflex Logística Digital platform — adapted for underground conditions: capture optimized for low-light tunnel environment, traceability by shift and by underground cuadrilla, and alerts on low-consumption patterns flagged as SSOMA risk (not just budget waste). Same RENIEC-pattern digital signature × 3 verification levels and 30+ control points used at Sigdo Koppers Toromocho and JJC Tambomayo, integrated with MDH's ERP for live KPIs.
