Context
Mina Justa is one of Peru's newest copper operations, owned by Marcobre — a joint venture between Minsur (Grupo Breca, controlled by the Brescia family) and Chinese capital partners — located in Marcona, Ica. While MDH ran the underground scope (see related case), CUMBRA (formerly GyM · Graña y Montero, before the 2020 rebrand) executed the Oxide Plant and VATs installation: a heavy-civil + electromechanical construction scope on a tight 12-month performance window from April 2019 to March 2020. PPE was being issued from a central warehouse with workers walking to pick it up — every reissue costing both EPP material and unproductive man-hours.
Challenge
Two-front cost: (1) PPE consumption itself — the GyM contract baseline ratio was 0.77 soles per man-hour worked; (2) man-hours spent walking to and from the central warehouse to receive PPE. The contractor needed both line items down without slowing the construction critical path.
Solution
We deployed the Logiflex Logística Digital platform with a difference vs. the EPP-trio cases: on-site mobile delivery (Logiflex vans + counters bringing PPE to the worker face), plus RENIEC-pattern digital signature × 3 verification levels, 30+ control points per delivery, automatic Risk Score, and integration with the GyM ERP for live KPIs. The "no walking to the warehouse" workflow generated savings on top of the consumption savings. Originally CUMBRA priced a satellite warehouse at S/. 35,330 construction + S/. 33,288/month operation — we made that unnecessary.
